Yunnan,China: Before China could recover from the havoc of the Corona virus, another virus named “Hanta Virus” has knocked there. On Monday, a person died of this Virus in the Yunnan province. The victim was returning by bus to work in Shandong province . He was found positive with the Hanta virus. 32 other people boarding the bus have also been investigated. There has been uproar on social media after the Chinese government newspaper Global Times informed about this incident.
According to information available on the official website of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , Hantaviruses are a family of viruses spread mainly by rodents and can cause varied disease syndromes in people worldwide. Each hantavirus serotype has a specific rodent host species and is spread to people via aerosolized virus that is shed in urine, feces, and saliva, and less frequently by a bite from an infected host. It is spread by the deer mouse.
Earlier there had been sporadic cases in India. In 2008, a group of snake and rat catchers had been reported to have this virus. In 2016, a 12-year-old in Mumbai had died of this hanta virus.
It is safe to say as of now that Hanta Virus is not another epidemic disease that can shake the world like COVID-19
