Amethi: On Wednesday, a major report stated that the police in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh has filed a FIR against a man, accusing him of creating fear among the people as he sought Twitter asking for an oxygen cylinder for his grandfather.
Shashank Yadav, the accused man tweeted on Monday saying, “Need oxygen cylinder, ASAP”. He has also tagged the Bollywood actor Sonu Sood. In response to the tweet, Union Minister and Amethi MP Smriti Irani tweeted, “Called Shashank thrice…no response on the number shared by you in your tweet”.
The Union Minister had also alerted the Amethi police to find Shashank and help him. Superintendent of Police Dinesh Singh said, “When he was called, he did not pick up. We thought he might be in some problem and therefore he was not picking up the phone. So we used the surveillance and tracked his location and reached his house, where he was found sleeping”. He further added that “Shashank’s motive was to create sensation and fear”.
Shashank had not mentioned in the tweet that his grandfather was Covid-19 positive. However, under relevant sections of the Epidemic Act, an FIR was lodged against Shashank for creating fear among people. He was also served a notice under Section 41 of the CrPC.
