Andhra Pradesh: Amazon has opened an all-women partner delivery station in Andhra Pradesh in order to provide job possibilities for women. Amazon presently operates four all-women delivery stations in cities such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Kerala. The station in Andhra Pradesh is the seventh to open in India. Women have been assigned to deliver packages to Amazon customers at the delivery station.
Apart from Amazon, Zomato has introduced female delivery partners in a number of Indian locations. The DSP programme, according to Amazon, is a last-mile delivery approach in which Amazon India partners with Small and Mid-sized Businesses (SMBs) to deliver items to Amazon customers. According to the company, many of the delivery partners are embarking on their first entrepreneurial enterprise with this programme. They use their local knowledge and Amazon’s technologies to keep customers’ delivery promises. Amazon India currently has close to 1650 Delivery Service Partner Stations spread across more than 750 cities, employing tens of thousands of delivery employees.
This programme also allows the corporation to manage last-mile deliveries across the country in a seamless manner. Amazon plans to open a centre in Chennai as well. The station will be run by members of under-represented groups in society, such as women, military veterans, transgender people, and people with disabilities.
