Two groups made up of government delegations from India’s main political parties are touring Southeast Asia, West Asia, and Africa to discuss India’s new approach to stopping cross-border terrorism, particularly acts backed by Pakistan. The visit was made after Operation Sindoor was launched, in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack last month that killed 26 people. The purpose of the meetings is to collect support from other countries and explain why India has stepped up its efforts against terrorism.

Led by Janata Dal-United MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, one of the two delegations had talks with Takeshi Iwaya, the Japanese foreign minister, in Tokyo. India’s unwavering determination and united stand against terrorism were made known to the Prime Minister, according to a social media message from the embassy. The gathering highlighted India’s position that it will allow no room for terrorism.

To this, Minister Iwaya expressed support for India’s efforts against terrorism and applauded the disciplined response taken by New Delhi. He urged that anyone responsible for these acts of terrorism should be brought to justice.

Some of the Indian MPs attending are BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Hemang Joshi, and Pradhan Baruah, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI-M’s John Brittas, Congress veteran Salman Khurshid, and former ambassador Mohan Kumar. The US President’s tour in Southeast Asia will be to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, trying to build stronger diplomatic relationships and gain backing against terrorism.

Simultaneously, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, now in Europe, posted his appreciation, saying that Team India’s effort was making people around the world understand zero tolerance for terrorism. The Indian Foreign Secretary also met his Japanese counterpart to renew their partnership and send a strong message against terrorism.
