Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has been named the head of the Indian Air Force (IAF) following Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari’s tenure; as Chief of the IAF will start on September 30, according to the defense ministry announcement, Singhs’ experience and leadership roles, in the IAF make him a suitable replacement.

Singh was born on October 27, 1964. Joined the fighter pilot division of the IAF in December 1984. Throughout his career spanning forty years, he has served in important roles that have played a significant role in enhancing the modernization and operational capabilities of the IAF. A graduate of institutions such as the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College, and the National Defence College, Singh is well respected within military aviation communities.

Air Marshal Singh has accumulated over 5,000 hours of flight experience in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. Holds qualifications as a flying instructor and an experienced test pilot for purposes. His impressive career highlights encompass leading a fighter squadron and overseeing an air base in frontline positions. Showcasing his strong leadership skills and capabilities.

Singh has had a career with projects under his belt, such as heading the management team for the MiG 29 upgrade project in Moscow and serving as the project director for flight testing at the National Flight Test Centre, overseeing the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas. In his roles, he has worked as an Air Defence Commander at the South Western Air Command. As a Senior Air Staff Officer at Eastern Air Command.
