Former CM Vijay Rupani Feared In Flight

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is confirmed to be among the passengers aboard Air India flight AI 171. The flight, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, tragically crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport at 1:38 PM on June 12, 2025.

According to unconfirmed reports, ex-Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was passenger number 12 on the ill-fated Air India flight. 

What Happened In Air Plane Crash Ahmedabad?

An Air India flight to London crashed shortly after take-off near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon. The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carried 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Visuals from the Meghani area where the plane crashed showed thick black smoke encompassing the air.

The flight was identified as Air India 171, which online flight trackers showed as a 1:10 pm service from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to Gatwick Airport in London.
