Wednesday, a large number of the crew of the Air India Express called in sick, disrupting 78 flights out of its usual one hundred. The roots of this protest are the discontent of employees with management regarding the Tata AIX Connect merger, as informed by internal sources.
“A portion of our cabin crew called in sick unexpectedly, starting last night, causing delays and cancellations. We’re in dialogue with them to comprehend the underlying issues, while our teams work actively to mitigate guest inconvenience,” stated an Air India Express spokesperson.
Passengers who will be incurring costs will get either cash refunds or alternative flight dates. “Passengers should check their flight status before travelling to the airport” is the transporter spokesperson’s recommendation.
Governance, degrading during a week, stirred because of the lack of merger of the two processes, endangering existing job opened, tells the governmental official. This is the second consecutive incident of a Tata Group airline going through such thing like Vistara did in the previous month of April when its crew became short as well.
The feeling of dissatisfaction among the employees is due to the fact that the Air India staff assumes the management is ample regarding them in job assignments and HR decisions. Through letters, workers have contacted the bosses of Tata and civil aviation institutions.
Air India Express, owned by the famous brand Air India, has a capacity of more than 70 aircraft and has to provide daily operations in 31 domestic and 14 international airports. It can boast of making an average of 2,500 weekly flights. Just like the previously cited head of the southern Indian airports, flights are getting cancelled at a faster rate.
The Air India Express Employees Union blames the airline’s management for morale depletion among staff, highlighting issues of mismanagement and discrimination.
