Ahmedabad Plane Crash: The second black box of the Air India flight AI171 which crashed on June 12 has been recovered, according to officials investigating the incident. The development was confirmed to PK Mishra, principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was inspecting the crash site on Sunday.
Mishra, in a statement, said, “I visited the crash site, the hostel, the hospital, and the FSL… I also held a review meeting. The state agencies, government of India agencies, and others have responded in a timely and effective manner. I met some of the relatives of those who, unfortunately, died and were injured.”
The crucial recovery of the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder, which was found last week, will be key to digging out the factors that led to the tragedy, which killed 241 out of the 242 on board and several others on the ground.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) stated in an official release on Ahmedabad Plane crash, “Chairing a high-level review meeting at Circuit House, here Dr Mishra discussed ongoing relief, rescue, and investigation efforts with senior officials from the Central and State Governments, AAIB, and Airports Authority of India.”
