Mumbai: After a break of five years, the luxurious Deccan Odyssey train, jointly owned by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Indian Railways, is all set to make a comeback. The relaunch, scheduled for Thursday, will showcase an upgraded and improved Deccan Odyssey with facilities and features.
The revitalized Deccan Odyssey has undergone a makeover that includes the addition of wooden flooring, the replacement of plastic bottles with glass ones and the installation of a state-of-the-art fire fighting system. These enhancements aim to offer passengers a lavish and secure travel experience.
Notably, the train will now be operated by Ebix, a multinational technology corporation. This change signifies a chapter in its journey. Under the management, couples can enjoy a seven-night and eight-day journey on the Deccan Odyssey at a cost of ₹6.5 lakh.
In a departure from its routes, the Deccan Odyssey will embark on six journeys that cover both well-known destinations and exciting new stops, like Varanasi and Delhi. This expansion of routes aims to cater to a range of travel preferences and interests.
The Deccan Odyssey is highly regarded as one of India’s luxury train options, renowned for its experiences and impeccable service. Despite encountering difficulties such as the decision to outsource operations to travel agency Cox and Kings in 2014 (which unfortunately faced bankruptcy) and the impact of the COVID 19 the train has managed to bounce back and thrive once again.
