The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), being part of the opposition in Andhra Pradesh, acted sharply on Bihar receiving several mentions and allocations in the Union Budget 2025, targeting the state’s ruling party, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for lack of major budgetary allocations. This follows from Bihar’s strong presence in the budget with immensely big projects of the state, green field airports, the expansion of Patna Airport, a Makhana board, and the Western Kosi Canal ERM project.
Andhra Pradesh YSRCP leader Karthik Yellapragada slammed the leadership of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu. He asked how the state, reasonably powerful in politics at the Centre, had managed to secure none of these for more vital sectors such as education, agriculture, industry and infrastructure.
Yellapragada said in the video that the TDP-Jana Sena alliance and the BJP-led government at the Centre have not been able to ensure that Andhra Pradesh gets its fair share of the national budget. Especially when both major political states — Bihar and Andhra Pradesh — are not substantial in terms of their budgetary benefits and are not given any substantial allocations either.
“Yet how is it that Naidu’s party could not at least deliver anything for Andhra Pradesh, considering they have 16 MPs in Parliament?” Yellapragada asked of the people of the state and claimed that they felt ‘deceived and cheated.’ Further, he mentioned that Bihar led by Nitish Kumar got a lot of mention in the budget while Andhra Pradesh seemed to be ignored.
It was part of wider criticism from YSRCP that embodies growing dissatisfaction in Andhra Pradesh over the state’s role in the nation’s affairs and allegations that its present political leadership is unable to draw important supplies for development.
