New Delhi: Union Health Ministry revealed its latest analysis of Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI). The Government of India analysed AEFI in batches and the report pertains to 88 cases selected randomly between January 16 to March 30. Results reveal that as many as 88 cases of severe or serious side effects were selected for examination.
During this period, 64.3 million doses were administered and 5 deaths in this clutch of cases. However, India’s vaccination cumulative vaccination coverage has crossed 71 crores. This is a landmark milestone in India’s fight against coronavirus. India recorded 43,263 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.
While the testing capacity has been enhanced across the nation, the recovery rate at 97.48 per cent accounted for 40,567 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,23,04,618. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.38 per cent, less than 5 per cent.
The active caseload stands at 3,93,614 accounting for 1.19 per cent of the total number of cases. 2,358 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 338 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,41,749.
Experts believe that India needs to administer more than 10 million doses in a day consistently to inoculate all the eligible adults by the end of the year 2021. Much of this shall depend upon the levels of vaccine hesitancy and the availability of doses in the coming months.
