Bollywood: Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Raj Kundra, a renowned businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra in connection with the case of a pornography racket busted by Mumbai police in February. The police have arrested a total of nine accused in this case, officials said.
A press release issued by the Mumbai Police read- “The crime branch registered a case in February about the creation of pornography films and publishing them through some apps. After investigation, we have arrested Raj Kundra in the case as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidence regarding the case”.
Raj Kundra was called by the property cell on Monday evening following which he was questioned and taken into custody. Kundra became a suspect after Umesh Kamat claimed that he worked in Kundra’s company. Following Kamat’s interrogation actress Gehna Vasisth was also arrested on February 6. She was charged for sharing obscure scenes from the videos to the UK based firm that uploaded them on an app called ‘hotshots’.
The property cell on 4th February busted a pornography racket after raiding a bungalow in the Madh area and arrested five accused of their alleged involvement in luring young women and men on the pretext of offering roles into web series and short films.
In 2013 Raj Kundra was questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the betting and spot-fixing scandal.
