New Delhi: India recorded 2,541 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.75 per cent accounted for 1,862 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,25,21,341.The daily positivity rate stood at 0.84 per cent.

The number of active cases stood at 16,522 accounting for 0.04 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 649 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.21 per cent recorded 30 virus related fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,22,223.

With the administration of 3.64 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 187.71 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Delhi on Sunday reported 1,083 fresh COVID-19 infections with a positivity rate of 4.48 per cent and one death due to the disease, according to the health department. The COVID-19 infection tally in the national capital now stands at 18,74,876 and the death toll at 26,168.

In view of the recent uptick, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to chair a Covid review meeting on Wednesday. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will be making a presentation on the present situation of COVID, the extent of vaccination, especially the booster drive and the trajectory of cases in certain states, the news reported quoting sources.
