NEW DELHI: India’s COVID trajectory projects upward sharply as the country has been reporting a sudden uptick. On Friday, 6,050 cases were added 13 percent higher than yesterday. It is for the first time since September 16th the daily cases crossed the 6k mark. The fresh cases took the cumulative infection count to 4,47 crore.

The daily positivity rate stood at 3.39 percent. The active case comprising 0.06 percent of the total infections stood at 25,587.

The national recovery rate stood at 98.75 percent, with 4,41,85,858 recoveries registered with the health ministry. The death toll rose to 5,30,943 with 14 new deaths added in the past 24 hours- 3 from Maharashtra, 2 each from Karnataka and Rajasthan, one each from Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal, Jammu-Kashmir and Punjab; and reconciled death from Kerala as per the updated data.

In view of the sharp rise, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has called for a review meeting to review the preparedness of states and UTs. All State health ministers have been called to participate in the meeting.

Under the nationwide vaccination drive, over 220.66 crore beneficiaries have been immunized with the vaccines against the novel virus.
