NEW DELHI: India adds 179 new COVID-19 infections in a single day, reported the Union Health Ministry on Saturday that took the total number of infections in the country to 44.7 million. The active caseload declined to 2,227. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 5,30,726 after a death was added in the past 24 hours.
The recuperative count since the inception of the pandemic stands at 4,41,47,983. The recovery rate stood at 98.80 per cent. While the fatality rate stood constant from the past few weeks.
With the administration of 52,577 vaccine doses in the past 24 hours, the vaccine coverage of India stood at 220.16 Crore. In the past 24 hours, the country conducted over 1,47,467 tests.
The INSACOG under the supervision of the Department of Biotechnology is closely monitoring the COVID situation in the country and continues to do constant genome sequencing to track new variants.
