Mumbai: An unknown man flung an acid-filled balloon at a rape survivor in Mumbai. As per the latest information, the woman was assaulted on Sunday, at around 11 am at Andheri- Ghatkopar link road, which lies in close vicinity to Bisleri Junction.
The woman reported that she was attacked since the accused man wants her to take back a rape and extortion case. As a result of the acid attack, the woman suffered major injuries.
Police and other nearby people hurried to the spot when they heard the woman’s cries. Subsequently, they carried her to the hospital. Following this incident, the acid attack victim lodged a complaint under section 326 A of IPC, to Andheri Police station. According to a leading daily, the police have refrained from commenting on this incident yet.
The woman informed the police that she had a quarrel with her business partner’s girlfriend who works together with her. Earlier, in June, she had registered a rape and extortion complaint against the business partner’s girlfriend and her friends.
The woman further stated that the accused had been terrifying her to take back the rape case and last week she had approached the police to register a non-cognizable complaint regarding the same. So far, no arrest has been undertaken yet.
