The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared that it intends to boot Congress out of the INDIA bloc, which is the current opposition, due to existing strains between AAP and Congress. AAP has accused the Congress of issuing anti-AAP statements and reporting to the BJP to subvert AAP’s authority, especially in the upcoming Delhi polls.
According to the AAP leader and the Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, the Congress party’s action is worrisome. Recent remarks by the Congress leader Ajay Maken have dubbed the AAP chief, Arvind Kejriwal, as ‘anti-national’. Atishi wanted to know why such terms had never been used for BJP leaders. She also said several dailies informed Congress leaders, including Sandeep Dikshit and Farhad Suri, that they were allegedly taking money from the BJP for the polls. As per Atishi, these steps indicated that Congress was conspiring with the BJP to defeat AAP in the polls of Delhi that are due. It was clear that if Congress did not take action against its leaders, especially Maken, AAP would sit down with its partners in INDIA-bloc to consider cutting all relations with Congress.
The tension was escalated by the white paper released bythe Delhi Congress that accused both the BJP and AAP of failing to manage the city and not delivering key promises. From this time, Maken personally attacked Kejriwal, leading the Youth Congress to register a police complaint against AAP for cheating the people and election fraud.
Another AAP leader, Sanjay Singh, said the same thing about Atishi; he condemned Congress for supporting the BJP on major issues and playing an added advantage to the BJP. Singh explained that AAP tried to form an alliance with Congress in Haryana, but the latter refused, which showed the widening gap between AAP and Congress.
