NEW DELHI: As per the latest reports, Aaftab Poonawala who murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walker in May last year used a saw to dismember her body into pieces. The confirmation was cited based on an autopsy of her bones. The saw and the blade used in the crime were recovered from the bushes in Gurugram, while the meat cleaver was dumped in a dustbin in south Delhi, sources in the know said.
The Delhi police handed over 23 bones recovered from the forest area to AIIMs on Tuesday for postmortem analysis. According to sources, the Delhi police are likely to file a chargesheet by the end of January.
The autopsy was conducted after the DNA of Shraddha’s father matched with the body pieces that were recovered from Mehrauli forest during the search conducted by the Delhi police. ‘DNA Mitochondrial profiling’ was conducted after Delhi Police’s Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda said the bone and hair samples from which DNA could not be extracted.
Aaftab Poonawala is still in police custody. He was arrested on Nov 12 and since then his police custody is being extended.
