NEW DELHI: Submitting a chargesheet of 6,629 pages the Delhi police on Tuesday revealed the real cause behind Aaftab resorting to the gruesome crime of killing his live-in partner and girl Shraddha Walker in May last year. The Saket court has extended the judicial custody of Aaftab by two another two weeks.

In its chargesheet, Delhi Police claimed that Aaftab – the key accused in the case – murdered his live-in partner in a fit of rage. He attacked Shradhha Walkar since she had gone to see a friend in Gurugram against his wishes.

Addressing a press conference, Joint Commissioner of Police Delhi Police Joint CP (South) Meenu Chowdhary said, “Accused was upset with his girlfriend for meeting one of her friends. Shraddha had stepped out to see her friend. This triggered the killer.’’ The top cop further stated that the investigation done so far in the case showed that the “killer used several weapons during the commission of the crime.” She added that 150 testimonies were recorded to firm up their case and have booked Poonawala under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the IPC.

Action against Aaftab was taken missing report of Shraddha Vikas Walkar from Maharashtra Police, following which a missing report was registered at Mehrauli police station and victim’s father was examined- the chargesheet said.

Aaftab was interrogated and was later arrested on November 12th. As many as nine teams and an SIT were also formed under the leadership of DCP (south). Teams were also dispatched to several locations in Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Gurugram in Haryana. Multiple search operations in the Mehrauli Jaungle area were conducted by Delhi police to gather body parts of Shraddha.
