Aaditya Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), speaks for the first time after fresh allegations against him in the 2020 death of Disha Salian, the ex-manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Thackeray alleged that in the past five years, they have continuously attempted to tarnish his reputation.
“For the last five years, attempts have been made to malign my image. In the court, we will put forth our side. Aaditya Thackeray,” as quoted by a news agency, told reporters: “We will give answers (to the allegations) in the court.”
But it all came back to haunt officials for a second time when Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, approached the Bombay High Court to request a fresh investigation into the strange circumstances of his daughter’s death. He asked the court to direct the FIR to be registered on Aaditya Thackeray and shift the case to the CBI.
Satish Salian was quoted as saying that the petition said the daughter was raped and then killed, and the commission of the crime was covered in order to protect influential persons. He accused the authorities of taking no action to protect the high and mighty those involved in the case.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane also criticised the earlier Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for carrying out a cover-up in the case. Rane said he was confident that the truth would be revealed in court.
“Ameet Satam, our MLA, raised this today in the Assembly. I described how the evidence had allegedly been suppressed, CCTV footage allegedly disappeared, doctors allegedly pressured, and the case had allegedly occurred during the MVA regime.” Rane told a news agency that even the postmortem report was allegedly tampered with by Disha’s father.
With the matter heating up, eyes are now all on the court proceedings and the one about a reopened investigation.
