New Delhi: India recorded 9,765 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.35 per cent accounted for 8,548 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,40,37,054. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.89 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 59 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 99,763 accounting for 0.29 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise by 740 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.36 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 477 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,69,724.

Maharashtra and Delhi have both announced six Covid cases each among travellers returning from ‘at risk’ countries, including South Africa. However, the variant infecting these 12 travellers is not yet known. Samples have been sent for genome sequencing by th health authorities. A passenger returning from South Africa and two family members tested positive in Chandigarh.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, so far 124.96 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country , including 80.35 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours. ICMR cumulatively screened 64.35 cr infected samples.
