Kerela: The mortality toll from rain-related incidents in Kerala has risen to nine, following a deluge on Saturday night. Moreover, hundreds of people are thought to be missing after Kerala was hit by torrential rains, which resulted in landslides in numerous locations. More rain is expected on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
Following the rain, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan postponed the reopening of the state’s colleges until October 20th. The colleges were supposed to start on October 18th. The pilgrimage to Sabarimala will be postponed till October 19th. K Rajan, Roshy Augustine, and VN Vasavan, state ministers, attend a review meeting in Munda to analyse the situation caused by heavy rainfall in the state.
As a result of the rains, authorities have issued a red alert in six districts, an orange alert in another six districts, and a yellow alert in two districts, suggesting that all 14 districts in the state are suffering severe rains. Heavy rains have been pelting the state since Friday evening, flooding roads in certain locations and disrupting normal travel in others. Meanwhile, tourist centres have been advised to close until further notice in locations where heavy rains are falling, and boating activities have been discontinued.
