New Delhi: India recorded 8,488 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.31 per cent accounted for 12,510 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,39,34,547. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.08 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 49 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,18,443 accounting for 0.34 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 4271 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 249 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,65,911.
Second worst hit state Kerala reported 5,080 new COVID-19 cases and 40 deaths in the past 24 hours. Northeastern state Mizoram, logged 437 infections, after 41 students, teachers and other staff of a private school in Aizawl, tested positive. Of the new cases, Aizawl district registered the highest at 225, followed by Lunglei (106) and Kolasib (36), the state health bulletin informed.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, so far 116.87 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country , including 32.99 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
