New Delhi: India recorded over 8,000 fresh infections in the past 24 hours after a hiatus of 103 days taking the infection tally to 4,32,13,435. The number of active cases jumped to 40,370 accounting for 0.09 per cent of the total number of cases. Around 4,103 active cases were added in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.41 per cent.
The recovery rate at 98.69 per cent accounted for 4,216 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,26,48,308. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.21 per cent added 10 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,24,757.
Mumbai on Friday reported 1,956 new Covid cases, 15 per cent higher than yesterday (1,702), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The daily COVID-19 cases in the city have been steadily rising since the last one month and the single-day case count has registered over three fold rise since May-end.
With the administration of 15.08 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 194.92 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
