New Delhi: The seventh round of meeting between member of protesting farmers and the Central government is being held to resolve the protest against the three farm laws.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, who is an MP from Punjab, are present at the meeting with the representatives of 40 farmer unions.
Narendra Singh Tomar, earlier on Monday said he is hopeful that talks with farmers may yield results and a positive solution will be found in the meeting. He added that he is buoyant that the two parties will find a positive solution regarding the issue.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the talks, Tomar said, “I am hopeful that we will find a positive solution today. We will discuss all issues in the meeting.”
Farmer leaders who arrived at Vigyan Bhawan for talks with the Union Ministers expressed similar sentiments. “We hope there is a breakthrough in this meeting in the new year,” a farmer leader said.
According to the news reporter, Tomar said that the government will reach a conclusion and try to discuss the laws “clause by clause” if farmers remain persistent on their demand for nullification of three farm laws.
“We are having talks with farmers at 2 pm today. Sakaratmak rasta nikalne mein madad bhi karenge aur safal bhi honge (We will help to find out a positive way-out and we will succeed in doing that)”, stated the Union Minister.
Earlier today, the Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson said that many farmers have lost their lives during the ongoing farmer protest at the Delhi borders against the three newly enacted farm laws. “In every 16 hours, one farmer is dying and it is the responsibility of the Government to answer”, he acclaimed.
