On the 73rd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind offer tributes at Raj Ghat on Saturday. While paying homage to the ‘Father of the Nation’, PM Modi remarked that Bapu has motivated millions of Indians.
Also, the Prime Minister on January 30 took to his Twitter handle to post – “Tributes to the great Bapu on his Punya Tithi. His ideals continue to motivate millions. On Martyr’s Day, we recall the heroic sacrifices of all those great women and men who devoted themselves towards India’s freedom and the well-being of every Indian”.
President Ram Nath Kovind also paid a visit to Rajghat, to offer his tribute to Gandhi. “The nation was grateful to him and everyone should embrace his ideals of peace, non-violence, simplicity, purity of means, and humility”, said Kovind while offering his homage to the martyred leader.
The President has also posted on his Twitter handle on the death anniversary of Gandhi. His post on his official Twitter handle read – “On behalf of a grateful nation, my humble tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who embraced martyrdom this day. We should adhere to his ideals of peace, non-violence, simplicity, purity of means, and humility. Let us resolve to follow his path of truth and love.”
Besides the PM and the President, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were among the other leaders who reached Raj Ghat on Saturday to pay homage to the father of the nation.
