More than 70 flights from Indian Airlines carrier were targeted by new bomb threats on Thursday, which led to public security measures besides the outbreak of emergency responses from other associations in the aviation industry.
Sources suggest that around twenty flights each from major Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo were threatened, and the same for almost 14 flights of Akasa Air. After these shocking threats, IndiGo Airlines said 20 of its domestic and international flights got security threat notices.
In a statement, the airline was quick to calm the passengers by saying, “All the customers were evacuated safely. The ministry stated that the relevant authorities were consulted, and standard operating procedures were used.” This confirms that the airline values passengers’ lives and, at the same time, worked hand in hand with the police to look into the threats properly.
At the same time, Akasa Air also said that several of its flights were delayed due to security alerts on Thursday. An official for Akasa Air responded: “The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are tracking it and are engaging with the security and regulatory bodies. We are strictly observing all COVID-19 preventive measures as well as security measures in consultation with local authorities.” This gesture is a precautionary measure of the airline to guarantee the safety of the passengers and crew in the event of a threat.
Because of the rising cases of bomb threats in the aviation business, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said that the government will soon put forward legislation that discourages such conduct. There have also been some measures which have been proposed to deal with people who make bomb threats being put on a list of people who are not allowed to fly in the future. This agenda seeks to improve the safety and security of the aviation industry and discourage all those who intend to act in this dangerous way.
The series of bomb threats has also brought indications that airlines and authorities face numerous struggles in securing safe and secure airline transport.
