New Delhi: India recorded 8,954 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.36 per cent accounted for 10,207 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,40,28,506. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.81 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 58 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 99,023 after 547 days accounting for 0.29 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 1520 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.36 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 267 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,69,247.
No case of Omicron has been detected so far in the country stated Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday. However, the new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Aviation have been enforced today. As per the rules, all passengers arriving from risk countries have been mandates to under RT-PCR at the airport and required to stay in the premises until their reports. Based on the reports the passengers will have to follow the protocols set by the Indian Govt.
Six international passengers arriving from ‘at risk’ countries – which include those that have confirmed cases of the highly transmissible Omicron strain – have tested positive for the virus, the Maharashtra Health Department reported Wednesday morning. The samples of the individuals have been sent for genome sequencing meanwhile, they have been shifted to isolation for treatment as per the protocol.
