New Delhi: India recorded 6,822 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.36 per cent accounted for 10,004 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,40,79,612. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.63 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 64 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 95,014, lowest in 554 days accounting for 0.27 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 3402 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.37 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 220 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,73,757.
The 46-year-old Bengaluru doctor, who was among the first cases of Omicron in India, has again tested positive for Covid, a senior official informed today.
The RT-PCR test was conducted seven days after his last test, as per the mandate issued by the Health ministry. He will be kept under observation for another seven days and be discharged only after a negative RT-PCR test, official added.
Meanwhile, 9 Omicron infected patients in Jaipur are asymptotic, informed Dr Narottam Sharma, Chief Medical Health Officer, Jaipur on Monday.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 128.66 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country, including 79.39 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours. More than 85% eligible population has been inoculated with first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Union Health Ministry stated.
