There was a sad event on Monday evening in Hayathnagar, a town in Hyderabad residence, when a six-year boy lost his dear life after the main gate of his school crumbled on him as he was returning from school.
The mishap happened at the government of Zilla Parishad High School; outrage and sorrow filled the family members and inhabitants of the area.
The boy, the son of two Garbage collectors for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received serious injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital. Even after being rushed to the hospital, he couldn’t make it and died earlier that same night.
The official of the Hayathnagar police, Inspector P Nagaraju Goud, has stated that authorities have filed a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) that deals with an inquiry in to the circumstances of any death which is suspicious.
The incident has elicited a lot of anger in society, with the boy’s family, relatives, and some residents of the school block protesting at the school compound on Tuesday. According to the protestors, the school authorities have been negligent by not maintaining and preventing the mishap on the newly developed gate.
A local resident, with the condition of anonymity, added: “The large school gate was apparently installed only several months ago.” It had to do with the extreme negligence of the school authorities since they failed during the construction of the gate, which led to its collapse. As it will be illustrated, this was a preventable incident.”
Local police and the district education department officials assured the aggrieved family and promised to take necessary action against the inexperienced human resources who were responsible for constructing and maintaining the gate. Police are yet to decide on laying charges for the event, whilst people are saddened by the loss of a young man whose death may have been prevented.
