New Delhi: India recorded 50,407 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.37 per cent accounted for 1,36,962 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,14,68,120. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.48 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 6,10,443 accounting for 1.43 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop by 87,359 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.19 per cent reported spike in deaths recording 804 fatalities, including a backlog of 251 deaths in Kerala. The cumulative death toll rose to 5,07,981.
Worst hit state Maharashtra reported 5,455 new cases during the last 24 hours. The cumulative case count stood at 78,35,088. Meanwhile, the national capital recorded 977 cases, the lowest since December 29,with this, the national capital’s case count increased to 18,49,596.
The government on Thursday revised guidelines for international arrivals, removing the category of ‘at risk’ countries which were introduced when the Omicron Covid variant emerged and also recommending self-monitoring of 14 days for symptoms against the current seven days of home quarantine. The new rules will be in effect from 14th February, the Union Health Ministry stated.
