Women empowerment is at its peak in this era. In a welcoming move, 5 Indian army women officers have been promoted to the rank of colonel by the selection board. They have provided 26 years of “reckonable service” to the Indian army and thus the decision of promotion has been taken by the board.

This time women officers from the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), the Corps of Signals, and the Corps of Engineers departments have been included in the promotion. Earlier, women officers from only the departments of Judge Advocate General (JAG), Army Medical Corps (AMC), and the Army Education Corps (AEC) were allowed for such colonel rank promotions.

It is overwhelming to see women perform well in all sectors of work, more so in safeguarding the country’s sanity. The 5 women officers who were granted the time scale colonel rank are Lieutenant Colonel Sonia Anand, Lt Colonel Navneet Duggal from the Corps of EME, Lt Colonel Sangeeta Sardana from the Corps of Signals, Lt Colonel Reenu Khanna, and Lt Colonel Ritcha Sagar from the Corps of Engineers. Hope our country produces more such Braveheart Indian army women officers who can serve the nation in the future.
