The Tamil Nadu government has taken to conducting health clinics to take preventive measures against fever and other water-borne diseases as the state reels under heavy rains and waterlogging. Health Secretary JA Radhakrishnan in a letter addressed to the district collectors said that 416 mobile medical units and 770 jeep-borne units have been deployed to trace and take initiative to mitigate the diseases.
The IMD has cited these incessant rains as the highest received by the state since the year 1901.Releasing a notice on the ongoing cyclonic circulations, the IMD on Monday forecast Extremely heavy rainfall over some parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on November 10 and 11 which may inundate roads and low-lying areas, and cause riverine flooding in some catchment areas.
