Mumbai: Black marketing of Remdesivir injection has become much popular in different parts of the country. After Pune, Nagpur, and Delhi , Mumbai also reported the same thing.
Mumbai Police has informed that 5 people have been arrested for allegedly selling Remdesivir, a key drug in the treatment of Covid-19, at Rs 20,000-25,000 per vial.
On April 23 and 24, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch raided a hotel’s kitchen in Motilal Nagar, Goregaon and 34 vials of the antiviral drug were recovered from them.
The police said, “The accused have been identified as Sneha Shaha, Shubham Bakshi, Dipak Khadka, Rohit Kamble and Athrav Chintamani”. With a surge in Covid-19 cases, Remdesivir injections are currently in high demand in the country.
The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court had taken suo moto cognizance of Covid-19 related issues on Monday which also includes an increase in demand of oxygen supply and Remdesivir injections. India has been badly hit by Covid-19 and now the country is struggling for oxygen cylinders.
