New Delhi: India reported 47,092 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.48 per cent accounted for 35,181 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,20,28,825. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.80 per cent.
The number of active cases rose to 3,89,583 accounting for 1.19 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 11,402 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 509 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,39,529.
Kerala contributed majorly to the rise recorded and accounted for one-third of the nation’s COVID tally. The total infected count stands at 40,90,036 with 173 fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours. The Health Ministry has stressed “smart and strategic lockdown” in the state to curb the daily surge.
India crossed the 66 crore mark on Wednesday, with at least one dose administered in 54 per cent of its adult population and both doses in 16 per cent. As per MoHFW, more than 81 lakh doses were administered in the past 24 hours.
