New Delhi: India recorded 43,509 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.38 percent accounted for 38,465 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,07,01,612. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.52 per cent, less than 5 per cent.
The active caseload stands at 4,03,840 accounting for 1.28 per cent of the total number of cases. 4,404 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 640 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,22,662.
According to findings of a serosurvey by ICMR, at least two-thirds population in 11 states have developed coronavirus antibodies. Madhya Pradesh leads the chart with 79 per cent seroprevalence while Kerala is at the bottom with 44.4 percent. Seroprevalence in Assam is 50.3 per cent and Maharashtra 58 per cent, the findings of the survey done between June 14 and July 6 revealed.
In the meanwhile, Dr Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Chief has stated that the third wave in India can be delayed and it may be less severe than the first two waves if COVID-appropriate behaviour is followed and the pace of the vaccination is increased.
Over 45.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, the health ministry said. 43,92,697 beneficiaries have been immunized in the past 24 hours.
