New Delhi: India reported 43,393 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. This took the cumulative count of infections to 3,03,18,083; the Union Health Ministry reported. The Centre announced a new emergency response package worth Rs 23,123 crores to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
The recovery rate at 97.19 percent accounted for 44,459 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 2,98,88,284. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.42 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 18 consecutive days.
The number of active cases has reduced to 4,58,727 accounting for 1.49 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1977 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.32 per cent reported 911 deaths, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,05,939.
A central team is directed to Kerala, as the state has presented a rising COVID curve over the past few days. The team has expressed satisfaction over the mitigation methods implemented in the state.
The Centre on Thursday announced a new emergency response package worth Rs 23,123 crores to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. The package will help set up pediatrics departments in 736 districts, 20,000 new ICU beds and acquire buffer stocks of medicines.
