New Delhi: India reported 42,766 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.42 per cent accounted for 38,091 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,21,38,092. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.45 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 4,10,048 accounting for 1.24per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a spike of 4,367 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths 308 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,40,533.
Whilst Kerala and Maharashtra continue to record a striking surge, Orissa despite recording a drop in its COVID curve witnessed a significant rise in its infection tally majorly consisting of children. Nearly 118 children were infected reported the state health ministry.
The cumulative count of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the country crossed 68 crores. In the last 24 hours, 71.61 lakh beneficiaries were immunized under the nationwide vaccination drive.
WHO on Saturday raised concern over the counterfeit versions of the COVID-19 vaccines being developed across the globe. To combat the risk, the centre on the same day shared a list of parameters that would aid in detecting an authentic COVID-19 vaccine.
