Mumbai: In an unexpected turn of events, it was reported by the police that Vikram Atwal, a 40-year individual who was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a 24-year-old flight attendant in Marol, was found lifeless in a cell at the Andheri police station on a fateful Friday morning.
The incident unfolded around 8 a.m. on Friday during a shift change among the police guards. During this transition, one of the guards noticed that one inmate in the cell was missing. This raised disturbing suspicions, especially when they discovered that the bathroom door was locked from inside.
Concerned by this situation and receiving no response from inside the bathroom, the vigilant guard decided to take action by entering the locked room. Unfortunately, what he found inside was a sight; Vikram Atwal had tragically passed away.
This unfortunate sequence of events occurred after Atwal had been transferred to the cell at Andheri police station on Thursday night following his interrogation by Powai police. This information has been shared by an officer from the Mumbai crime branch.
Upon discovering Atwal’s body, he was swiftly taken to a hospital, where medical professionals declared him deceased upon arrival. An autopsy has been planned for the body as part of the procedure, which is a common practice in such situations.
It’s essential to recall that Atwal, a member of the cleaning staff at the NG Complex housing society in Marol, Mumbai, had been connected to the flight attendant’s tragic demise on September 3. The police had previously stated that Atwal had arrived at the flat with sinister intentions, equipped with a knife, and allegedly attempted to assault the trainee air hostess. In his statement to the police, Atwal admitted to an altercation with the victim, asserting that she had managed to seize the knife from him but, ultimately, he overpowered her, leading to her tragic demise.
