New Delhi: India recorded 38,792 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.28 percent accounted for 41,000 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,01,04,720. Meanwhile, Kappa variant which is a ‘variant of interest’ cases is rising in various states.
The daily positivity rate stood at 2.10 per cent, less than 3 percent for 23 consecutive days. The number of active cases has reduced to 4,29,946 accounting for 1.39 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 2,832 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 624 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,11,408.
Rajasthan detected 11 cases of Kappa variant of the virus and informed state Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Tuesday. The state logged 28 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Kerala, which has witnessed a relatively high number of coronavirus cases in recent weeks, recorded 7,798 new infections. A woman medico in Kerala, who was India’s first COVID-19 patient, has tested positive again for the virus.
