New Delhi: India reported 33,376 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.49 per cent accounted for 32,198 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,23,47,497. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.10 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 12 consecutive days.

The number of active cases stood at 3,91,516 accounting for 1.18 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 870 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 308 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,42,317.

Kerala and Maharashtra continued to report the surge, while the National Capital recorded zero COVID-related deaths in the past 24 hours. However, the state did detect 36 new infections. In the neighbouring state Punjab, CM Amarinder Singh has announced a mandatory leave sanctioned by the department for those employees who do not get vaccinated by September 15.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage achieves 73 crore landmark milestone. Nearly, 65.27 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. ICMR on Friday tested 15,92,135 infected samples. So far 54.01 crore infected samples have been tested across the nation.
