New Delhi: As per the government data, the number of fresh COVID-19 cases in India has jumped to 32,080, and with this, the overall case tally in the country has reached 97.35 lakh.
The daily case count was almost 21% higher than the last day’s 26,567, while the last day’s count was the lowest since July 10.
About 402 people in the country died of the viral disease yesterday, taking the death toll to 1,41,360. The total number of active cases declined further and reached 3,78,909.
Almost 36,600 people recovered from the viral disease in the last 24 hours, taking India’s overall number of recoveries over 92 lakh.
“COVID-19 cases in the country have been declining consistently since mid-September”, said the Health Ministry, adding, “Active cases have gone down from 10 lakh on September 18 to 9 lakh on October 8, 8 lakh on October 16, 7 lakh on October 22, 6 lakh on October 29, 5 lakh on November 10, and 4 lakh on December 6.”
The 5 highest daily cases have been reported by Kerala (5,032), Maharashtra (4,026), Delhi (3,188), West Bengal (2,941), and Rajasthan (1,604). All these states, except Rajasthan, accounted for the highest death count in the last 24 hours.
