New Delhi: India reported 31,923 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.77 per cent accounted for 31,990 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,28,15,731. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.09 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 23 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 3,01,640 accounting for 0.90 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 349 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 282 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,46,050.
The Centre on Wednesday announced that the kin of the deceased due to COVID-19 are liable to receive an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000. The centre re-iterated that the compensation would be paid by the state government from SDRF and would be applicable to deaths in the past and the future . Several states like Bihar, MP, and Delhi had previously announced ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased due to COVID-19.
