INDIA: The number of COVID-19 cases in India is rapidly increasing day by day. India hits a bleak milestone on Friday when 7,466 fresh cases were recorded in the last 24 hours— the highest ever. Currently, India has 1,65,799 cases of coronavirus. . India has progressed to the 9th position surpassing Turkey. With this substantial increase in number of cases and no vaccine, India may soon become the worst hit country in the world.

Atleasr 175 deaths were reported on Thursday, the third highest number of deaths in a single day, taking the total to 4,706. Maharashtra alone reported 85 deaths on Thursday.

The number of active COVID-19 patients in the country rose to 89,987 on Tuesday. India stands at fifth position in highest number of active cases in the world and the numbers continue to rise with no sign of relief. On the positive side, 71,105 people were recovered from the disease. India’s recovery rate from novel coronavirus disease zoomed to 42.8% on Thursday, the highest so far.

Maharashtra remains the worst hit state in the country, accorded the highest number of new cases on Thursday recorded 54,758 cases so far with 16,954 cured cases and 1,792 deaths. Maharashtra alone accounts for approx 36% of total coronavirus cases.

Tamil Nadu has proceeded with 19,372 confirmed cases and 10,548 cured cases. The state has reported 145 deaths so far. At least 827 people tested positive for novel coronavirus on Thursday, the highest surge in a single day recorded in the state.

Delhi, the national capital of India, recorded over 1,000 cases in a day for the first time since the outbreak. At least 1,024 confirmed positive with coronavirus disease in last 24 hours. Delhi has documented 16,281 cases of the novel coronavirus. So far. There are 316 deaths have been registered.

In contrast to such a big extent, there are few states in India with low cases of coronavirus. For instance, Arunachal Pradesh has reported 3 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 1 cured/migrated/discharged case. Similarly, Dadar Nagar Haveli has recorded 2 confirmed cases with 0 cured/migrated/discharged and death reports. Mizoram has confirmed 0 cases although, only 1 case has been reported that has been now under the list of cured/migrated/discharged cases. Sikkim shares a similar status along with these north-east states with 1 confirmed case of coronavirus. The state has recorded no death reports.

On the other hand, Chhattisgarh has constantly shown the increasing rate of coornavirus cases at a fast pace due to migration. The state has reported 399 confirmed cases with 83 death reports. Though the opposition has claimed that there is a rapid rise of deaths in the quarantine centre situated at different corners of the state but the state hasn’t recorded any deaths due to COVID-19.

Till now, no vaccines have yet been confirmed. The researchers have paced up their developmental works.
