New Delhi: India recorded 31,443 fresh infections and 2,020 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.28 percent accounted for 49,007 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,00,63,720. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.81 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 22 consecutive days.
The number of active cases has reduced to 4,32,778 accounting for 1.40 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 1,8121 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 2,020 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,10,784.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Ministers of the North-eastern states today over the COVID-19 situation in these states. According to the sources, PM Modi interacted with the chief ministers of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram through video conferencing taking stock of the COVID-19 situation.
ICMR tested 17,40,325 infected samples in the past 24 hours, which took the cumulative count to 43,40,58,138. As per MoHFW, 40,65,862 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past 24 hours. So far India vaccinated 38,14,67,646 citizens under the national vaccination drive.
