New Delhi: India reported 30,941 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. This took the cumulative count to 3,27, 37,939, the Health Ministry said.
The recovery rate at 97.35 per cent accounted for 36,275 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,19,59,680. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.22 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 3,70,640 accounting for 1.13 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 5,684 n the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 350 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,38,560.
The global health body, WHO has instructed nations to prioritize vaccination for its teachers and school staff so that schools in Central Asia and Europe could resume offline classes.
India’s top medical body, ICMR head of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases o Monday, raised sound against the rising COVID-19 curve in states that witnessed less intense second wave. “Several states began imposing COVID-19 restrictions and increased vaccinations, learning from Delhi and Maharashtra. Due to this, the second wave in several states was not as intense, leaving scope for the third wave, Therefore, the increasing number o COVID-19 infections in some states is presently indicating the third wave”, said Dr Panda.
So far the govt successfully immunized 64.05 crore beneficiaries under the nationwide immunization drive.
