New Delhi: Three Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath functionaries have been booked for making derogatory remarks against the Karnataka High Court for its verdict on the Hijab row. The Jamath had recently held a public meeting in the Koripalayam area of Madurai regarding the Karnataka High Court’s ruling.
In a speech, one of the functionaries quoted the instance of Jharkhand High Court judge’s death and warned that judges may now have to face dire consequences over the Hijab verdict
Following the event, a complaint was filed against the functionaries alleging that derogatory remarks were made against the Karnataka HC order and the judges were threatened.
The Madurai police have booked the three absconding under five sections of the IPC including 153(a),505(1)(c),505(2),506(1) r/w 109 IPC.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the ruling party in Karnataka mulled to introduce ‘Bhagavad Gita’ as an academic subject in schools. The State Education minister said that Bhagavad Gita is ‘for all’ and not just for Hindus. In a press briefing, he said that a decision will be taken on teaching the religious book to school children under moral science subject after consultation with CM.
Earlier on Thursday, the Modi led cabinet in Gujarat announced to introduce ‘Bhagavad Gita’ for classes 6 to 12 from the next year. The state education minister asserted that the book was not only for Hindus but for all. He added that the subject would definitely be introduced from next year.
