Chennai: Three class 10 students were arrested in connection with the gang-rape of their classmate, a fifteen-year-old girl. The boys have reportedly shared the video of the incident, police officials said on Friday. Another boy who was in a relationship with her has been arrested for stalking her, the police added.
Ms Kiruba Inspector of Police at Thittakudi in a media interaction informed that the alleged perpetrators were all minors in the Cuddalore district and had blackmailed the girl with a picture of her with her boyfriend and threatened her t come to one boy’s house where the assault took place.
According to a preliminary investigation, the girl visited one of their former senior student on the occasion of his birthday. One of the accused, a classmate of the victim had got hold of a picture of the girl and blackmailed her saying he would show it to her parents if she didn’t turn up at his home behind the school. She was sexually assaulted on the first of the month behind the school during the lunch break while the offence was also filmed by another student which was later shared across.
The victim on learning about the video going viral shared the incident with her mother who later lodged a complaint against the accused. the accused have been arrested under POSCO ACT. The survivor was sent for medical examination and the results are awaited.
