New Delhi: India reported 29,616 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.78per cent accounted for 32,542 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,28,48,273. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.86 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 26 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 3,01,442 accounting for 0.90 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 1,280 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 290 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,46,658.
Kerala breached the national single day landmark in COVID attributed deaths on Friday recording 127 fatalities. Maharashtra, the worst-hit state would witness the re-opening of all worship places from October 7, the first day of Navratri. The Chief Minister of the state tweeted the announcement on Friday evening and asserted the implication of COVID protocols assertively. Top medical body, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), on Friday informed that even if the third wave comes in the country, its intensity will be low.
