New Delhi: India recorded 2,876 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,98,938 The recovery rate at 98.72 per cent accounted for 3,884 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,24,50,055. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.38 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 32,811 accounting for 0.08 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 1,106 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recorded 98 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,16,072.
With the administration of 18.92 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.60 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The health ministry on Wednesday began accepting registration for vaccination for children between 12-14 years. The drug controller of India approved Biological Es Corbevax for administration in children between 12-14years. 2.shots are prescribed with an interval of 28 days.
According to the ministry, more than 2.14 crore (2,14,64,682) precaution doses for the identified categories of beneficiaries (HCWs, FLWs and people over 60 years) for Covid-19 have been administered so far.
Cumulatively, 55,35,60,174 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to individuals in the 18-44 age group across states and Union Territories and 45,74,25,030 second doses have been given in the same age group since the start of phase 3 of the vaccination drive, according to ministry data.
